9/1999-11/2004 Research Assistant
Laboratory of Arif Hussain, MD
University of Maryland, Greenbaum Cancer Center

Area(s) of Interest:

“Dr. Hussain heads the genito-urinary oncology program. He has developed and led a number of clinical trials in this area. One focus has been in recurrent and locally advanced hormone sensitive high risk prostate cancer where his group is evaluating multi-modal treatment approaches. He has also been evaluating novel agents and combination therapies, including bone directed treatments, in advanced prostate cancer. Dr. Hussain has an active research laboratory. His laboratory is studying xenograft and transgenic mouse models of prostate cancer to identify molecular responses to hormone ablation and chemotherapy, with the goal to translate this work into optimally designed therapeutic clinical trials. Several clinical trials in prostate cancer at the UMGCC have stemmed from such studies. The other major focus of his laboratory is to study molecular pathways regulating calcium homeostasis, including adaptive mechanisms in response to calcium dysregulation in prostate cancer.” (Arif Hussein, MD)
